Several Round Rock ISD fine arts ensembles have been recognized among the nation’s best through the 2026 Mark of Excellence and Citation of Excellence projects, which honor outstanding performance by school bands, choirs, and orchestras across the United States.

Director of Fine Arts–Performing, Jager Loyde said, “It was an honor for our dance programs to be highlighted at this statewide conference focused on the arts! Their performance was impactful and moving, showcasing the talents of our students to an audience of arts leaders - it was a special moment to witness!”

The Mark of Excellence project, sponsored by the Foundation for Music Education, collects entries from schools nationwide and provides adjudicators' feedback on performance quality compared with other entries. The top 25% of entrants are named National Winners, while the next 25% earn Commended Winner honors.

Several Round Rock ISD ensembles also received honors in the Citation of Excellence project, which recognizes outstanding achievement among non-varsity bands and orchestras.

Through the Mark of Excellence and Citation of Excellence projects, ensembles receive adjudicator critiques and recordings of top performances, helping educators and students refine their musical artistry and celebrate quality literature in music education.
