Round Rock ISD continues to lead in STEM education, with all five of our comprehensive high schools earning the 2025-26 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School designation, a national recognition for excellence in student access, engagement, and achievement in PLTW programs.
Cedar Ridge, McNeil, Round Rock and Stony Point join Westwood High School in receiving this designation. The honor is awarded to a select group of schools nationwide that demonstrate a commitment to expanding access to high-quality STEM curriculum through PLTW’s hands-on, project-based learning.
McNeil High School celebrates this distinction for the ninth consecutive year, underscoring a longstanding tradition of excellence in STEM education.
“At Round Rock ISD, we truly believe that every student should have access to amazing learning experiences that ignite their curiosity and empower their future," Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez said. "This recognition highlights the remarkable efforts in our schools to nurture the next generation of STEM leaders. Exciting times ahead!”
PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK–12 students and educators across the U.S. To qualify for Distinguished School status, campuses must meet rigorous criteria, including student participation rates, the number of PLTW units offered, and efforts to ensure equitable access to STEM learning opportunities.
